Ironfest Lithgow

Lithgow - Home of Ironfest

the River Project mural by Rose Hu, completed 2004.

Lithgow is a small town of just over 20,000 people (including the surrounding districts), snuggled down in a steep, rugged, little sun-drenched valley on the western side of the Blue Mountains World Heritage National Park, two hours west of Sydney.

With permanent water, in the form of two creeks, the valley once played host to a rich indigenous culture, being a gateway to the vast Wiradjuri tribal lands to the west, and a meeting place for the Gundungurra people in the east and the Dharug in the south-east.

Now noted for its rich industrial heritage, diverse & vibrant culture, unique & eccentric architecture, stunning natural environment and of course, Ironfest; Lithgow is being discovered by more and more people.
